A BIT ABOUT ME
Years of Experience and Proven Results
I live in Egerton, north Bolton and I am married, with one son at school and a very stubborn dachshund
I graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University in 1992 with a BSC(Hons) degree in Applicable Mathematics and Economics. I was awarded the Postgraduate Certificate in Education (Secondary education) in Mathematics in 1996 from the Manchester Metropolitan University. Please contact me and I will happily provide my DFES teacher reference number and Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) confirmation.
Prior to 1996 I worked in the insurance industry as a Commercial Claims handler in the UK and Australia, and as an Account Executive for a Public Relations company. I am a keen traveller, who has visited many countries, been on three “round the world” trips and actually met my wife whilst backpacking in Australia!!
From 1996 to 2006 I worked full-time as a secondary teacher in Mathematics in schools in Manchester and Bolton. I met the Performance Threshold Standards Assessment for excellent classroom practice in 2004. The headmaster at Smithills commented:- "Mr Evans is developing into a high calibre teacher who is strong in the classroom and contributes to overall school priorities" I have taught all ability groups at Key Stage 3 and GCSE. Regarding pupil progress the headmaster added:- "Excellent outcomes at every level reflecting his high standards and effectiveness as a teacher. Very positive, pleasing and successful."
Since 2006 I have worked as a specialist maths consultant in a number of schools and as a private maths tutor. I worked at Moor Park school, Preston for over 10 years, liaising closely with the headteacher and head of maths to provide targeted tuition to under-achieving students and transforming the schools’ maths performance. This helped the school move from satisfactory to outstanding by Ofsted
I have available tuition time-slots for new students. Please Contact me at Maths Tuition Bolton to check availability and to book an appointment.
